Things have been going along swimmingly lately in my sculptural practice! Although its been a while since I've posted any new works, I have been working. Mainly on The Drogue, but also on a much smaller, two headed bird prow boat. I found out recently that The Drogue was selected for this years Sculpture by the Sea in Bondi, which is amazing news. This was closely followed by the news that through this, I was selected for one of three Clitheroe Emerging Sculptor Mentorship prizes. I have a lot of works mid-process at the moment, but they've all had to be put into hibernation while I get the boat sculpture (The Drogue) finished. Have a deadline for its submission to a sculpture prize by April 1st, so aside from full time teaching work, my days/nights/weekends are currently being spent slaving away on it. Its coming along, but theres still a lot of work to do. Fingers crossed I get it done in time! Once its complete, I'm going to start getting some box frames made up for a bunch of recent collages. Planning to have a show with them by the end of the year. Busy, busy....really need to win lotto so I can devote all my '

Seriously not planned...but its been a year almost the to date since I last submitted a journal entry. Submission of art hasn't been quite so slow, but working full time now and have to make a concerted effort to ensure that my priority (artmaking) is not taking a back seat to the support role (teaching). Its hard, as I do love teaching, and this in turn means I devote a lot of energy and time to it. This results in great classes and kids who are engaged in learning art, but at times a 'running on empty' Kate.
